Orla Meehan

Orla Meehan is the Clinical Intake Coordinator at The American Institute for Cognitive Therapy (AICT). She graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Her honors thesis explored the implications of social power on concurrent physiological synchrony of the autonomic nervous system.

Before joining AICT, Orla spent two years as a Research Assistant at the Social Interaction Lab under Dr. Kate Thorson where she contributed to research on psychophysiology. Orla also previously worked as a Peer Educator at Barnard’s Wellness Spot. In this role, she designed and co-facilitated campus-wide wellness and self-care programming as well as trained students in opioid overdose prevention and response protocols, dispensing naloxone to her community.

Orla plans to pursue a graduate degree in clinical psychology. Her primary clinical and research interests include health psychology, somatization, and psychosexual health. Outside of work, she enjoys painting, photography, cooking, and practicing yoga.
