Clinical Intake Coordinator

Betty Gibbs is the Clinical Intake Coordinator for AICT. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2024 with a degree in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. Betty was a research assistant under Dr. Kent Berridge in his affective neuroscience lab and studied the psychology of motivation and reward using optogenetic techniques. Her undergraduate thesis research was focused on the central amygdala and how it can control incentive motivation for opioids.

Betty’s experience in addiction research reflects her broader interest in the biopsychology of addiction, eating disorders, and obsessive compulsive disorder. She plans to pursue graduate education in Clinical Psychology and hopes to work with children. Having grown up in New York State, Betty loves to be outdoors.

In her free time, she is likely to be found hiking in the Catskills, tending to her vegetable garden, or skiing.
